New Dealer Academy

March 21, 2025 | Harrisburg, NC

The New Dealer Academy is a yearlong program designed to support new dealers and recent graduates of the NC and SC Pre-Licensing courses in successfully launching their dealerships. The program features a 10-module curriculum delivered over four sessions throughout the year, combining in-person and virtual formats. Participants will learn to develop a business plan, properly complete the license application, and navigate both retail and wholesale car sales. Key topics include financial management, team building, collections, cost control, and state and federal compliance. Each participant will also be paired with a mentor dealer from a non-competitive market for ongoing, hands-on guidance throughout the program.

U.S. Treasury Suspends Enforcement of Corporate Transparency Act

The U.S. Treasury Department announced that it is suspending the enforcement of the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA), which would have required companies to file beneficial ownership documents with the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). This announcement came after a recent court ruling and a delay of the March 21 deadline for compliance. Businesses will no longer face penalties for failing to meet the CTA requirements at this time.

CFPB May Not Be Eliminated After All

There has been ongoing discussion regarding the potential elimination of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). However, recent developments suggest that efforts to eliminate or significantly reduce the agency may not move forward as initially expected. The future of the CFPB remains in flux, and updates will continue to emerge in the coming months.

The Carolinas Independent Automobile Dealers Association will present a series of Dealer Advisory Groups (DAGS) meetings in North Carolina and South Carolina. These meetings are designed to provide valuable insights and perspectives on the industry by current independent dealers who will lead the facilitated meetings. The DAGs meetings are open to all independent dealers in the Carolinas, creating an opportunity to network and learn from peers. RSVP is requested, but not required.
